Newborn photography
Newborns change so quickly after birth! That’s why these sessions are best between 5-10 days after birth.
Our Newborn Sessions take place Tuesday through Friday in our studio in Decatur, Georgia.
We have plenty of props in the studio, including hats, headbands, and wraps. We always encourage our
parents to bring personal items, such as special pieces made by Grandma or something from the nursery.
Extra props are always welcome in the studio.

a Newborn Session at our Decatur studio, we always make time for this important moment.
During our consultation, we can discuss the options of background and
the best clothing options for these backgrounds.

So you are ready to schedule a Portrait
Session with James Hill Photography and you were wondering what's next?
When scheduling a session, we like to begin with the end in mind. We’re full-service – we don’t just take the pictures; we style them, we interview you, we help you choose where to display the products in your home and which products will work best for your decor and lifestyle.
After your session, we spend a great deal of time perfecting each portrait.
In order to have a perfect outcome, we will require a little prep work before your session.
1. The Pre Consultation

These meetings can take place
In-Person or Over the phone.
This is where the excitement starts! We get to sit back, relax, and talk about what we can do to tell your story. We want to know everything about you, your kids, your family, your house, your style – everything! We will talk about style and clothes.
We would love to see images of your home so we can talk about certain wall spaces and plan for
something that fits YOU. When your session day arrives, we’ll have a plan so that everything goes smoothly…which means less stress for you. Wheee!

2. The Portrait Session

Newborn Sessions and most
babies under
9 months are generally photographed
in our Decatur Studio.
Maternity, Families, and HS Seniors can be photographed in the studio or on location.
We have access to a Breathtaking Garden close to our studio, which is a Client Favorite.
Sessions generally last 1-3 hours,
depending on the type of session.

You will get to see your images projected larger than life in a slideshow set to music during your ordering appointment, 7-10 days after your Portrait Day.
This is one of the BEST parts – so please feel free to bring as many people as you would like. This is the time where you will be asked to place your order. If you have not already submitted wall measurements to me, please bring them to this session. Please be prepared and ready to make these decisions. All decision-makers should be present.
If family lives out of town, a gallery of your favorites can be posted online for them to view AFTER you have placed your order.

4-6 weeks after you have placed your order, we will call you to schedule a
pick-up time at our studio.

A child changes so much during the first year. The Baby Plan is designed to capture each milestone through your baby’s first year. The Plan captures your child at 4mo, 8mo & 1 year. Parents are always welcome to jump in any session!
If you are interested in the Baby Plan, we can work to coordinate colors and themes to create an end of
the year collection to show all the milestones.
One Year Sessions always include a Cake Smash Session. I am happy to provide the cake for you.
Cake sessions are my favorite sessions...YUM!
