We are the husband-and-wife duo behind James Hill Photo. Our story started way back in eighth grade, and we’ve been building a life of love, creativity, and faith ever since.

Michelle began her career in front of the camera as a model, traveling to Japan, Miami, New York, and L.A. after winning a TEEN Magazine contest in High School. From modeling and acting to working with major brands like L’Oreal, Gillette, and Motorola, she soaked up everything she could about creating beauty on set. Over time, her passion shifted to behind the camera... directing, designing, and capturing meaningful moments.
Today, she brings that same vision and artistry to every session we photograph.

James, on the other hand, didn’t exactly dream of being a photographer. In fact, it took Michelle practically shoving him into it with a Canon Rebel she bought him back in 1997. But something clicked. He dove headfirst into learning everything he could, from books in the back of bookstores to endless trial and error. He started with landscapes, but everything changed when our first baby was born. Tristen’s tiny toes and new life became his muse, and suddenly James discovered a deep passion for photographing people.

After years in Los Angeles, where we got engaged, found God, and were baptized and married, we welcomed our first son, Tristen, in 2004. Then in 2006, our second son, Asher, was born, spending a short time in the NICU. That experience pulled us back home to Atlanta, where we’ve continued to grow both our family and our photography business. And in a moment that felt like a promise fulfilled, we welcomed our daughter, Madison Faith, the little girl I always prayed for.

Together, we’ve built more than a photography business. We’ve created a boutique experience rooted in heart, creativity, and the desire to make people feel truly seen and beautiful. Our goal is to capture the raw, sweet, and fleeting moments that matter most. A brand new baby, a glowing mama-to-be, or a family just being themselves.
