Pregnancy is such an exciting time in your life and in the lives of your family. Your body is changing every day as your little one grows inside of you. Although it might seem like pregnancy drags on forever, these moments will be forgotten all too soon as you adjust to caring for your newborn. Booking a maternity shoot with James Hill Photography is one way to ensure that you remember this time forever. Because we understand that you’re likely to have a lot of questions about maternity photos, we have compiled answers to the top five client inquiries below.
How Far Along in My Pregnancy Should I Have Maternity Photos?
From our experience, any time between the 28th and 34th week of pregnancy is ideal. You have a nice round stomach at this point, and it’s not so large that it makes frequent posing changes uncomfortable. Of course, every woman is unique and it’s ultimately for you to decide. We will schedule your appointment for whenever you prefer it.
How Far in Advance Should I Schedule My Maternity Photos?
We recommend that you request your appointment one to two months in advance. However, we won’t turn you down if you are getting close to your due date and did not have the chance to schedule an appointment yet. We want to make sure your precious memories are captured for a lifetime!
How Long Should I Plan for My Session?
We advise most expectant mothers to plan to be with us for at least one to two hours. Of course, your actual time might be shorter or longer. You can expect it to be on the longer side if any part of your maternity photos will take place outside. Some other factors that can influence the time include the number of times you change outfits, weather conditions, and whether you include your partner in some or all of the photos.
What Options Do I Have for Background and Clothing?
Your photo shoot is as unique as you are. We offer many gown options or you are welcome to bring your own. You can also select our Romantic Garden Maternity Session or our Intimate Studio Session and opt to have your photos taken on location in a nearby garden, or in our studio. James Hill Photography is located within one mile of a private garden and six miles from Piedmont Park, which make for stunning backdrops. If you select the Intimate Studio Session, please know that we always take photos in a respectful and discreet manner. Nudity is always your personal choice.
Can I See Your Portfolio Before I Schedule an Appointment?
Absolutely! Our maternity portfolio features the outfits we have on hand in our studio wardrobe, potential backgrounds to choose from, and poses other clients have used as well as the quality of the shots. You are also welcome to visit us in our Decatur office to view even more of our past work.
