5 Steps to Feeling Confident at Your Pregnancy Photo Shoot

Maternity Photographer - Atlanta ga

A pregnancy photo shoot is the perfect way to preserve memories of your baby bump forever. If you’re planning to get photos of this special time in your life, you want to capture a sense of confidence in your photos. If you look scared or uncomfortable, the photos won’t turn out as well. To help ensure you exude confidence, take a look at these tips.

1. Choose Your Outfits in Advance

Typically, with a pregnancy photo shoot, the process involves taking multiple photo sessions with a variety of different outfits. Devote some time in the weeks leading up to your session to choose outfits. You want options that make you feel simultaneously beautiful and comfortable.

2. Schedule Strategically

Your body changes a lot during pregnancy. To capture as much as possible, many people decide to do multiple sessions throughout their pregnancy. That’s a great way to document the entire pregnancy journey.

Alternatively, if you’re just doing a single session, you may want to schedule it for near the end of the second trimester or beginning of the third trimester. During the sixth to eighth month of pregnancy, your baby bump is nice and full. In contrast, during the last month of pregnancy, many women start to feel uncomfortable. The better you feel, the more confident you will be throughout the photo session.

3. Bring Your Partner

In some cases, you may feel more comfortable if you bring your partner along with you for the pregnancy photo shoot. If desired, they can join you for some or all of the photos. Alternatively, they can just “cheer” you on from the sidelines.

4. Do What Makes You Comfortable

A pregnancy photo shoot is a personalized and unique experience. Don’t bow to anyone else’s expectations of the event. Remember, these are your photos, and you need to do what makes you comfortable.

For example, some women love showing off their bare belly in their pregnancy photos, while others prefer to wear long maternity tops or dressers. Some women like close ups of their baby bumps, while others prefer full body portraits.

5. Choose the Right Photographer

The photographer you choose can also have an impact on how confident you feel during your pregnancy photo shoot. When choosing a photographer, pay attention to how you feel around them. Do they make you feel vibrant and confident? Do they make you feel like smiling?

This intangible element can be hugely important to your session. Before scheduling a session, spend some time talking with the photographer. Even if you just chat for a couple of minutes over the phone, you can often get a sense of how you click together.

Also remember to look at their portfolio. If you feel confident about their work, you will likely be more confident during the session.
